About our community
Who can join co-op?
THG Cooperative is for families with at least one homeschooling child.
We are an all-ages co-op with class offerings from pre-k through high school. Any Tallahassee-area homeschooling family whose oldest child will be at least 5 years old by the start of the next semester is welcome to join the admissions list.
Admission to the co-op is first come first served and depends on the availability of space within our maximum membership.

When and where does co-op meet?
THG Cooperative meets on Mondays from 11:00 am - 3:15 pm near Midtown Tallahassee. Each co-op semester lasts ~12 weeks, and we offer a Spring (Jan-May) and Fall (Aug-Nov) semester each year.
On Wednesdays we have Community Day. For anyone enrolled in Mondays, Wednesday is an optional meeting day for clubs, 2 day high school classes, and other activities.
Are there fees to participate in co-op?
Enrollment fee per semester is per family. It is used to cover rent, insurance, and other costs associated with running our non-profit.
Our current enrollment fee is $75 per family per semester, with potential adjustments on an annual basis.
There are a couple fellowship scholarships available each semester. These scholarships can be applied for upon enrollment and will cover the families semester enrollment fee, if awarded.
In addition to semester enrollment fees, individual class fees are determined by each teacher and may vary based on the specific course requirements. They range from $5 - $50 for most classes, however, some specific classes can cost more.
Some fees can be reimbursed through SUFS or AAA, obtaining reimbursement requirements is done through each individual teacher.
How is the Co-op Secular?
Our co-op has no religious or spiritual basis in the classes, curriculum or activities. We do not require a statement of faith. We have families of many different faiths, and also those who do not practice. Our shared values are inclusive of all.
When studying world religions and indigenous cultures and practice, our teachers take great care to ensure that it is done in a respectful and informative manner.
What does a typical co-op day look like?
Three 1-hour class periods and a 1 hour lunch/social break.
Each class period offers at least one class per age range.
Families are not required to be on campus and participate in all three class periods. Some families attend 1 or 2 periods.
However, every child on campus each period must be registered for either a class or the nursery. Parents must commit to volunteering while on campus.
Families arrive, children attend classes, and parents go to their volunteer duties (sometimes teaching, assisting, or cleaning up).
Can I drop my child off?
Parent participation in co-op is mandatory and we do not offer a drop-off program.
Who teaches classes?
Current co-op parents serve as the teachers for the classes. We have many talented educators in our community. Parents and children collaboratively brainstorm with each other for class ideas that fit their needs.
Every class has an assistant.
What if I am not interested in teaching?
Each family is required to volunteer in order to keep our co-op running smoothly. Parents who are not teaching a class contribute to the co-op in other ways, such as serving as classroom aides, participating in clean-up duties, lunch monitoring, and other volunteer jobs.
How do children sign up for classes?
Before the registration window we share the class schedule. During the registration window, families will be able to register for their preferred classes via our online class registration system.
Registration is usually July for Fall and November for Spring.
Note: Once the registration window opens we do not accept any new members for the upcoming semester.
When do I need to sign up by?
Get on the admissions list by April/May for Fall, August thru October for Spring.
Admissions is 'First Come First Serve',
Registration for Classes is 'First Come First Serve' within windows, teachers first, then alumni, then new families.

Are there other ways to get involved today?
Yes! Even though it feels like a long wait sometimes to join the THG Co-op Community, families do many other activities together during the week and throughout the summer. Check out the Tallahassee Homeschool Group Park Friends for information about upcoming Park Days and other events that many THG Cooperative members attend. We hope to see you there!
